Self-care and style advice from a model and mom-to-be

Tell us a little about yourself:

My name is Lyn. I grew up in Palm Springs, then moved to New York, and now I have been in LA for two years. I am a part-time model and I also work for a beauty brand. I am a first-time mom, due in a couple of weeks. We are expecting a girl. Her name is Suede. I am so excited to be a mom!

What has your pregnancy journey been like?

It’s been very easy. I feel blessed for that. I still do everything I liked to do before pregnancy. Pregnancy has not stopped me or slowed me down or changed how I like to live. But now as I reach the end, things are getting a little bit harder. Our bodies are so incredible, and it’s just amazing all of the changes we go through. I mean, I am growing a human! I have to remind myself of that and be easy on myself. It’s a big job.

What have you done to take care of yourself throughout pregnancy?

I was doing Pilates up until a week ago. The last time I did it I was like, ok, this is definitely the last time! I could really feel it. I have also been playing tennis, swimming, and being mindful of my diet (but I did have my ice cream craving period). I am trying to spend a lot of time with friends and family, and also get in some “me time,” because I know these things will be harder afterwards.

How has dressing yourself been through pregnancy?

It’s been hard!  I did not start showing for a long time in the beginning. I was even a little bit worried. I really wanted that cute little bump! But then at the end your tummy grows so fast and nothing fits! I really do appreciate brands like Hera that make things we can wear throughout pregnancy and afterwards so we don’t have to just live in leggings and a hoodie. It’s so important for us moms to still feel like ourselves and be able to maintain our personal style. For me, it’s another form of self-care.
